A massive thank you to all those who contributed to another successful Lake Aid fundraiser. On Sunday 6th September, twenty brave Lake Aiders rose to the Montee de la Tournette challenge: A 6.45am start at Talloires beach, followed by a 1980 metre climb right to the very top of Lake Annecy’s highest mountain.
Thanks to Globber’s generous sponsorship of the Lake Aid t-shirt, we were able to raise more than 1200 euros. This money will go directly towards funding Lake Aid’s activities such as our annual Christmas Party for children in difficulty in Annecy, outings for unaccompanied minors and holiday activities for asylum-seeking children.
It was a fantastic day full of fun, fresh air and camaraderie, as everyone took up the challenge according to their own ability. While some Lake Aiders opted for a gentle amble up, others ran the whole way to the top! A special mention must go to amazing Lake Aid athletes Sam Roberts-Law, who finished in 1h41, and Georgina Kirby, who summited in just 2h29.
After the exertions, we all enjoyed a delicious lunch of crozets, ham, cheese and fruit tart laid on by the ever-helpful and cheerful organisers, Talloires Club des Sports.
We still have some event T-shirts left, featuring a stunning photo of La Tournette by local designer Emma Richmond of HJEM. They cost 25 euros each and all proceeds go directly to funding Lake Aid activities. If you would like to order one please contact Carolina Comte at lakeaid74@gmail.com.
