As well as helping homeless and asylum-seeking children in and around Annecy, Lake Aid has been providing baby boxes to in-need families who have newborns — an initiative started former Lake Aid president, Carmel. A hundred empty boxes were generously donated by The Baby Box Co based in Britain.
We fill the boxes thanks to many generous donations from Lake Aiders all over the region.
When we deliver them, each box contains all the basic materials and clothing supplies for a baby’s first year of life. Each box also contains a small mattress, so it can be used as a baby bed too.
In the past month, the Étape du Semnoz has welcomed several newborns, and the director of the centre was really pleased to receive these boxes! We thought we’d share a photo of what a typical box contains.
Lake Aid has limited storage space, so the charity Les Restos du Cœur has agreed to take on our remaining boxes to store and fill as needed. Big thanks to everyone who has donated, along with The Baby Box Co, Les Restos du Cœur and Carmel for organising the boxes in the first place.
