After the success of the school supply project in 2017, we decided to carry out the project again on a larger scale. Our goal was to supply 75 children with everything they needed for the up and coming school year (50 primary school children and 25 secondary school children)
We launched the campaign on facebook in early July. Generous Lake Aiders donated backpacks, school supplies and money to fund any extra supplies we needed to buy. By the end of August, we were able to achieve our goal and hand over all the supplies to the Red Cross for distribution.
This year in addition to the 75 children living at the Red Cross Shelter, we were also able to give supplies to around 30 children at the Collectif Urgence Rom and 4 homeless children via La Ligue de droits des hommes.
We surpassed all expectations this year, supplying over 100 children compared to 60 children in 2017. This project has become one of Lake Aids key missions and it has also helped us create links with other local charities and increase our reach, opening up possibilities to help more children living in difficult situations.
