On Sunday 2nd September, Lake Aid members and volunteers Felicity, Natasha, Tristan, Mark, Mark L, Camilla, Claudia, Nicolas, Julie, Pierre, Mike and Gemma took part in the legendary Montée de la Tournette to raise funds for our charity. This challenging event involves ascending 1980m to the highest summit around the lake in Annecy!
225 Runners and 60 walkers took part with finishing times varying from 1.5hrs to 4.5hrs!
After the hard climb up, the participants were rewarded with spectacular views of Lake Annecy and a few snacks to refuel because….they had to walk back down to the Chalet de l’Aulp!
Through generous sponsorship donations from friends and family and the small participation fee to join the team, we managed to raise over 1000€!
Thanks to two very generous Lake Aiders who designed, ordered and sponsored the production of the tee shirts, every penny raised will go towards helping Lake Aid’s effort to help local children in difficulty through providing school supplies, baby boxes and organising fun outings and events.
Overall, this was a great way to fundraise. The weather was on our side so a perfect day to be outside, raise money and also get great personal satisfaction from such a difficult climb!
We will be back next year, hopefully with an even bigger team to raise more money for Lake Aid.
Thanks to all the runners and walkers and also the photographers and cheerleaders!
