Lake aid continues to support over 20 children and young people through individual tutoring and a homework club. 6 volunteers work on a one-to- one or small group basis with unaccompanied minors, and, each Wednesday, a team of volunteers run a homework club for primary and secondary school students in an emergency housing centre in Annecy.
On an academic level, this support is invaluable for the young people involved. It help them to keep up with their school work whilst also giving them the opportunity to cover any gaps in their understanding resulting from missed schooling, language difficulties, and other barriers that these young people face. On a personal level, the support offers as much to the volunteers as it does the young people involved. The young people look forward to the sessions and often form friendships with the volunteers which extend beyond school work.
We are always in search of new volunteers, so if you think you can help, please get in touch!
