Lake Aid Volunteer Yvonne Van Hien writes about her experience at the Snow Day outing for 32 children this January.
The snow day was such a great experience to be part of. I lived and worked in the mountains for 25 yrs and have rarely seen all the people involved get so much joy out of a day on the slopes.
The group of kids we took were amazing , well behaved (apart from a little over excitement, which can only be expected). To hear all about it from them at the end of the day just filled me and, I’m sure, all the other volunteers, with joy. Its overwhelming that these kids are so mature for their ages and not phased by what comes their way.
When I asked the kids in my group if they were cold, hungry, or thirsty the answer was always no. Their willingness and enthusiasm was a real breath of fresh air. Well done kids !
The New Generation ski school’s effort and organization was outstanding. They were so kind to us all and we could see they got so much from the day too …roll on next year !
