On Sunday 1st September, 30 Lake Aiders took part in La Montee de la Tournette to raise money for Lake Aid.
Setting out from Talloires, Team Lake Aid hiked up to the top of La Tournette, the highest mountain around Lake Annecy. As well as paying to enter the race, each Lake Aid participant donated 25 euros to Lake Aid in return for a lovely Lake Aid T-shirt and buff.
Despite the early 7am start spirits were high, and only improved as the day went on. Although it was a tough hike, the views and the excellent company made it all worthwhile!
Everyone went at their own pace; the fastest Lake Aiders, Bertrand and Marjorie Gacon, got to the top in 2h52 mins, while Felicity Fallon brought up the rear with a time of 4h29!
All in all it was a fabulous day-out and we were delighted to raise 1450 euros for Lake Aid. As Tristan Hale, Treasurer, said: “This is a fantastic result and should pay for many of Lake Aid’s activities in the coming year”.
Thank you to all those who participated, including those who generously donated but could not make the hike. Lake Aid is run entirely by volunteers and every euro donated goes directly to funding activities to help homeless and asylum-seeking children in the Annecy area.
